As a follow up to Avalon Hill's Flight Commander 2 and Over the Reich, Charles Moylan (and Big Time Software) programmed the World War 2 air warfare game Achtung! Spitfire, covering aerial warfare from 1939 to 1943 in the European theater of operations (Britain, France or Germany). This game was based on the board wargame designed by J.D. Webster and published by Clash of Arms Games. Published in 1997, it is designed to run in Windows 95. While perhaps not as elegant in design as Flight Commander 2, and lacking a scenario or campaign builder, Achtung! Spitfire still offers computer wargamers an outstanding turn-based tactical level WW2 air warfare game. Achtung! Spitfire is still playable on modern Windows operating systems such as Windows XP or Vista, although getting them to run smoothly might require acquiring a cracked version of the program or using an emulator to run Windows 95/98/ME. While Avalon Hill or Big Time Software did not publish a scenario or campaign editor for AS, there is a "Design Your Own" feature that is available when you choose to play "Dogfight" scenarios within the game. This feature allows the creation of dogfights only (air-to-ground scenarios are not possible), and the editable parameters are limited, but by saving the created dogfight as a saved game immediately at the start of game play this feature can serve as a rather crude scenario editor. On this page you will find scenarios modeling various historical and hypothetical air-to-air encounters using this scenario editor. When using these scenarios there are a few things to keep in mind:
1. The files are saved games (.asp files that have been compressed as a .zip file). Therefore, you must unzip files to some location on your hardrive. To play you must open the .asp file in the appropriate location using the "Load Saved Game" option (middle drawer of the filing cabinet in the AS base commander's office).
2. These sceanrios can only be played as one side (RAF, L'Armee de l'Air or Luftwaffe). You will not have the option to play both sides. I have built some of the scenarios from the perspective of both sides, however, and have indicated which file plays from which side using a single letter code appended to the end of the file name (before the file extension):

3. There are no scenario descriptions that are part of the opened scenario, so I have included scenario descriptions with each of the downloads as a text file. Therefore each scenario file includes a .otr file and a .txt file.
In this section you will find a variety of new scenarios for Over the Reich. They are broken up into:
1. Historical--These are scenarios modeled on actual air-to-air encounters that did happen.
2. Hypothetical--These are scenarios that are not based on historical events but rather on fictional events that could have happened during World War 2.
3. TV--These are scenarios derived from the popular History Channel program "Dogfights". All of these encounters are historical, and they have been included under the appropriate headings in the Historical section.
4. Board Wargames--Several excellent board wargames have been published over the years....many in the 1980's. I have taken several of these games and converted their scenarios into FC2 format. Games used include Air Force (with the Expansion Kit) and others. Most have these are also included in the appropriate historical or hypothetical sections
5. Scenarios organized by aircraft involved--Here I have cross-referenced each scenario by aircraft involved in the combat. The aircraft have been organized by country where the aircraft was designed and manufactured.
